The driver walked away.

I’ve been watching the Bathurst 12 Hour for years but I’ve never seen a crash like this across the top of the mountain. Incredible. Glad the driver walked away, but he’s going to be sore tomorrow. This is why the Bathurst 12 Hour is my favorite race of the year. You just never know what’s going to happen.

How late the guys in that shed were to start running was something.  I mean once he crests the wall with inertia there isn’t much left but self preservation.

So many professional drivers and their amateu r fans have fetched up in that particular trap...and all for much the same reason. I myself have inadvertently drifted a couple of deeply inappropriate for th e race track vehicles across that corner...

The best effort I saw was Phil Ward in 1987 when he flaunted with fucking up that corner for a half a dozen laps during the 1000 in a Mercedes 180e . Then he finally binned it and rolled three times into the trap where it finished up on its side. He and some marshals dropped it back on its wheels (simpler times back then) and got it out of the trap. He then drove the thing down the Mountain to the pits for a well earned retirement!
